GMWA Youth Highlights

Dallas -- The Youth and Young Adult Division of the Gospel Music Workshop of America will feature some of the hottest acts in the field at this year's annual GMWA convention in Dallas, TX, August 12-18.
In addition to the very talented youth choirs and ensembles of GMWA's own chapters, the Youth will host Division alumnus Byron Cage and crossover R&B vocalists Dave Hollister and Cheryl "Coko" Clemons, formerly of SWV (Sistuhs With Voices).
Other guests include Euclid Gray (the preacher in "Meet the Browns"), Eric Carrington, Da Minista, Marcus Cole (formerly of Commissioned), Myron Butler and Levi and James Fortune and FIYA.  Other artists include Ayeisha, Prince Yelder and DFC, Men of Standard and Zie'l..
"We've very proud of the growth and the commitment to excellence of our Youth and Young Adult Division," said Bishop Albert L. Jamison, chairman of the GMWA board of Directors.  "Some of the most highly regarded church musicians and gospel recording artists in the country started out as part of  GMWA's youth.
"We're especially pleased that they never forget their roots.  They come back to us every year and they make it a point to work with the young people.  That's why the entire organization will continue to flourish."
In addition to musical programs and concerts, the Youth and Young Adult Division includes special academic offerings, training in classical music through the Robert Fryson Memorial Chorale, a Christian Debutante Cotillion/Beautillion and a special component geared to children ages 3 to 10 years.
The Youth Mass Choir will participate in a live recording session on Friday, August 18, followed by a field trip to Six flags.
