The Caravans will be performing songs from their new CD "Paved The Way" (Malaco Music Group) during the Gospel Music Workshop of America's 39th annual convention in Dallas, TX between August 12 and the 18th.  In addition to their performances during the convention, the ladies of the Caravans will be the focus of a special press conference which will be held for them at the convention. The press conference will be held Tuesday, August 15 at 1:30 PM in Room A305 in the Dallas Convention Center downtown (650 S. Griffin Street). The Caravans first performance at the convention will be during "Malaco Records Night: A Salute to The Greatest Group of All Time, The Caravans" which will be held on Sunday, August 13, at the Adams Mark Hotel.

***Note*** All attendees must be registered conference participants.

This lavish Malaco sponsored salute reception for the Caravans will be held in the elegant Dallas Ballroom from 9:00 pm-10-:30 pm. This reception marks the return of the Princess of Praise & Worship - mellifluous songstress Maurette Brown Clark, who will host the event and perform selections from her forthcoming Atlanta International Records (Air Gospel) release "The Dream" due out in October, 2006. Also paying tribute in song to the Caravans will be Carolyn Traylor, Da Minista, the first Gospel Hip Hop artist signed to Malaco Records, Euclid Grey from Tyler Perry's play "Meet The Browns", Mosie Burks of The Mississippi Mass Choir and Prince Yelder & The Disciples For Christ.

For over 50 years the Caravans have been an unwavering source of traditional gospel music. And now the founder of The Caravans, Ms. Albertina Walker, "The Queen of Gospel Music" has been reunited with her royal court of gospel superstars from The Caravans; Dorothy Norwood, The World's Greatest Gospel Storyteller," Deloris Washington, The Sweet Songbird of gospel music, and Inez Andrews The High Priestess of gospel music on the forthcoming Malaco Music Group CD, Paved The Way.  This classic new release from this all-star edition of The Caravans includes 6 new songs and 7 gospel standards, including The Caravan's legendary hit:  Mary Don't You Weep.

Since their founding in 1952, The Caravans have gone on to produce more stars than any other singing group in the history of gospel music. Legendary talents such as: Inez Andrews, Shirley Caesar, Cassietta George, Evangelist Dorothy Norwood, James Herndon, Josephine Howard, Delores Washington and the King of Gospel the late Reverend James Cleveland, have all been members of The Caravans.  (Website:  www.thecaravans.net)
